Atlanta Lofts in Old Fourth Ward Host Free Artwalk Tomorrow, June 10, 2009
Every Second Wednesday of every month, Studioplex Atlanta lofts in Old Fourth Ward area celebrate art by hosting a free monthly ‘Second Wednesdays’ Art Walk. This month's art walk is scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10th. Scheduled from 6-8:30 p.m, these monthly Art Walks at Studioplex are free and open to the public. There's plenty of parking space available. Art lovers and collectors and the public are invited to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, discover exciting new artists in the heart of Atlanta, check out Studioplex Atlanta lofts for sale and listen to a DJ spin his favorite tunes.
This June 10th Art Walk will feature the Art Department Gallery, led by Anke Schofield, who will present Chimera: New Works by Sam Parker and Dosa Kim. ‘Chimera (the exhibit) symbolizes the current battle of three struggling organisms of today – Politics, Economy and Environment. “The highly technical combination of Parker’s detail and Kim’s design (and vice-versa) transcends itself into an ethereal, gut-wrenching body of complexity that asks the viewer’s depth to ask for more while the surface eye turns away. Of what exactly is this creature made?” asks Schofield. The exhibit will be open until June 30 at Studioplex.
Also, the Jack Art Gallery will be featured, formerly known as Griffin Davis, who will present “californiacolors”, a showcase of works by emerging abstract artists from San Francisco: Zoe Martell, Phillip Hua and Hang Nguyen. Jack Art Gallery has relocated to a new space at Studioplex next door to Serpas restaurant in Suite 503. The gallery specializes in affordable, original art created by local and national emerging artists.
In addition, a number of other galleries and lofts will be open during the ‘Second Wednesdays’ Art Walk at Studioplex. Dog owners are encouraged to bring their dogs to this month’s Art Walk on June 10th. Local entrepreneur Lauren Janis will be offering samples of her organic Big Daddy Biscuits.
While you are there, ask to see the several models available at Studioplex. These Atlanta lofts offer unique charm and history as this building used to be a cotton mill. The lofts themselves have the original building ceilings, walls and sky lights. Find Studioplex by looking for an Atlanta landmark, the water tower which is part of Studioplex as it was part of the cotton mill. Located at 659 Auburn Avenue in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward, Studioplex features 130 live/work lofts as well as 9,100 sq. ft. retail space in the Pavilion at Studioplex.
Sales Center hours: Monday - Friday: 10-6; Saturday: 10-5; Sunday: 12-5.
